When we moved to Cambridge, we LOVED Fuji, a modern, non-pretentious, accessible restaurant on Third St. in Kendall. Innovation is key in this sparkling clean, yet sophisticated Japanese eatery, and I can’t say enough about their delicious maki. Even simple things like edamame are better here, lightly salted, warm, and fresh. The drinks are great here too. When they opened a new one at Assembly Row, we enjoyed that as well, but the recently-opened sushi restaurant tops them all.
Located at 65 Harrison Ave., right near Whole Foods, it blends right in with the trendy vibe of the Ink Block. It’s the warm welcome and menu that sets Fuji apart. We live across the street from Chinatown and have tried a few of the sushi restaurants there, but the textures and flavors don’t quite compare, and we missed Fuji, and are now delighted to find them in the South End. The prices are moderate, but the quality is comparable to high-end sushi bars. I highly recommend Fuji for a fun and delicious dining experience. http://www.fujiatinkblock.com
The maki below doesn’t have candy wrappers on top. That is actual gold leaf and yes, it is edible.
