It’s always a challenge to find just the right venue for my husband’s birthday dinner. I like to seek out something different from the usual, and this year when walking past the Boston Tea Party Museum, I saw a small sign for “Tavern Nights”, which they call Huzzah. I looked it up online and it promised traditional food and drink, period actors, music, games, and dancing. We love history, theater, good food, and dancing. How perfect.
Our night in this authentic colonial tavern exceeded our expectations and we loved the conviviality, the little dramas with the actors who were very much in character the whole evening, as well as the food which was delicious as the dancing and singing. It was a step back into the past and it was the perfect birthday celebration for him. The venue is in a traditional tavern, alongside the Tea Party boat, so you are right on the water. I also never knew that there is Abigail’s Tea House in there that is always open and they serve the same kind of teas that were dumped into Boston Harbor. After living here for decades, it is still nice to have surprises. This is an event for the whole family and for tourists as well as long-time Boston residents to enjoy. Don’t miss it!!
